19 Apr 11 How To Organize A Graduation Party

Planning a graduation party can be a nightmare, unless you make a list of what needs to happen in order to pull off a successful celebration. This should be a happy time and one to allow friends and family show their excitement for what the graduate has accomplished. It doesn’t matter if this is a party for graduation from elementary school, high school, college, or beauty school, it should be a memorable event. The following tips should help in executing the perfect party for your graduate.

Making a list of everything that needs to be done for the party is the easiest way to make sure all aspects are covered. This is a great visual aid and each item can be crossed off as it is completed. Some things that might be included on the list are; people to invite, creating invitations or making phone calls, decorations for the party site, food to buy or that people can bring, cake to order or bake, and a gift and/or card for the occasion.

First on the list is usually the invites and the list of people these will go to. Be sure to include all the information needed for the guests; date, time, location, contact number, if food and beverages will be served, and if they need to let you know that they will actually be there. It depends on how creative you want to get with these. Some people prefer to just go to the store and buy a box of invites, while others go all out and hand craft each one.

Additional information included might be directions to the house, food situation, or if there is an RSVP request. Getting these out in time to all the guests is important. It’s difficult for someone to prepare for a party that is going to happen the very next day.

Choosing decorations can depend on the budget alloted for them, how readily available they are, and even personal choice. Some people prefer to have a simple table display with the food and nothing else, while others go all out and order tons of decorations from the local party store.

Cakes can be purchased at a deli, from a fancy cake decorator, or made from scratch. Most delis need at least 48 hours to get a cake decorated correctly, some might need more time. Well known cake decorators often need a few weeks, especially during the summer when there are a lot of weddings going on.

Even baking a cake at home requires planning ahead. If ordering a cake, be sure to call well in advance. If the cake is going to be home made, make sure all the ingredients are purchased way before the date of the party.

The hardest part to planning a graduation party is making sure that everything goes according to plan. Not all parts of the party may go as planned, so having a back up plan is necessary. For instance, if the party is supposed to be held outdoors, but it begins to rain, an alternate site needs to already be in mind. It’s a good idea that the guests already know of this alternate site as well, which can be told to them in their invitation. The weather isn’t always willing to cooperate for parties and last minute decisions can be frustrating to guests.

Planning a graduation party is not that difficult, next you may want to research some graduation party favors for the party. Favors-n-Gifts.com offers nearly 300 inexpensive party favors, priced less than $1 each.
